A.J. Ayer vs. Mike Tyson

It took place in Manhattan at the party of Fernando Sanchez, a fashionable underwear designer (not many philosophers get invited to underwear designer parties). Ayer was talking to a group of models when a woman rushed in saying a friend was being assaulted in the next room. Ayer went to the rescue and discovered Mike Tyson trying to force himself on a young British model named Naomi Campbell. Ayer warned Tyson to take his hands off her, to which Tyson replied, “Do you know who the fuck I am? I’m the heavyweight champion of the world.” Ayer replied, without missing a beat, “And I am the former Wykeham Professor of Logic.”

    After graduating from USU with a degree in Philosophy.in 2006 I became a waiter in Las Vegas. I was working at Bartolotta at the Wynn which features an outside koi pond with surrounding cabanas which are open when the weather is right. After one party was waiting for an hour for one of these cabanas, the host of the party pulled one of my managers aside and said he would “slap around” whoever was at their table. My manager said that Mike Tyson was at the table and he was more than welcome to take a swing. The man said “yeah, whatever”, then Mike Tyson came walking up the stairs to the exit. The belligerent guest simply said “Hey Champ.”

    Also while I was in France in 2006, there were many news stands the had a magazine that featured the “new intellectuals of France.” Three men (at least one was a philosopher) were featured. Shortly afterwards the next highlight magazine was an older woman (maybe 50) who was posed topless. My (then) girlfriend said that she was the philosophers girlfriend. All things are possible in France!
